Do you need to get to downtown Vancouver from the airport? Then please watch. We start off from the airport and pass through the international departures drop off area. You'll notice once we get going that some flowers are popping out of trees. This video was filmed in early March... As you get on the bridge that takes you to Granville street it's very important to get in the right lane (3:46). There's a small commercial area at the bottom of the Granville street and after that it's residential areas. These houses are some of the most expensive in Vancouver. Enjoy the mountains and the fairly simple route (basically you have to go straight) until we reach the Granville street bridge which takes us into downtown (11:28). Traffic starts moving again and I obviously did not want to let him in, so I sped up a bit. The engine/exhaust sound you hear as I was speeding up is NOT from my car, it's the exhaust from the other car. Rest is pretty self-explanatory. At the end of the video, he yelled "Fuck you, It's your fucking fault, mother fucker, Fuck off." I admit that I was more aggressive than I usually would've been in a situation like this because I was driving a rental/courtesy car. Driving Downtown - Vancouver BC Canada - Season 1 Episode 22. Starting Point: Granville St https://goo.gl/maps/zcJQRonhEBN2 . Vancouver, officially the City of Vancouver, is a coastal seaport city on the mainland of British Columbia, Canada. The 2011 census recorded 603,502 people in the city, making it the eighth largest Canadian municipality.[1] The Greater Vancouver area of around 2.4 million inhabitants is the third most populous metropolitan area in the country,[1] the second largest city on the United States–Canada border, and the most populous in Western Canada. Vancouver is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada; 52% of its residents have a first language other than English.[4][5] Vancouver is classed as a Beta global city. The City of Vancouver encompasses a land area of about 114 square kilometres, giving it a population density of about 5,249 people per square kilometre (13,590 per square mile). Vancouver is the most densely populated Canadian municipality, and the fourth most densely populated city with over 250,000 residents in North America, behind New York City, San Francisco,[6] and Mexico City. The original settlement, named Gastown, grew up on clearcuts on the west edge of the Hastings Mill logging sawmill's property, where a makeshift tavern had been set up on a plank between two stumps and the proprietor, Gassy Jack, persuaded the curious millworkers to build him a tavern, on 1 July 1867. From that first enterprise, other stores and some hotels quickly appeared along the waterfront to the west. Gastown became formally laid out as a registered townsite dubbed Granville, B.I. ("B.I" standing for "Burrard Inlet"). As part of the land and political deal whereby the area of the townsite was made the railhead of the CPR, it was renamed "Vancouver" and incorporated shortly thereafter as a city, in 1886. By 1887, the transcontinental railway was extended to the city to take advantage of its large natural seaport, which soon became a vital link in a trade route between the Orient, Eastern Canada, and Europe.[7][8] As of 2009, Port Metro Vancouver is the busiest and largest port in Canada, and the most diversified port in North America.[9] While forestry remains its largest industry, Vancouver is well known as an urban centre surrounded by nature, making tourism its second-largest industry.[10] Major film production studios in Vancouver and Burnaby have turned Greater Vancouver and nearby areas into one of the largest film production centres in North America,[11][12] earning it the film industry nickname, Hollywood North.[13][14][15] Vancouver is consistently named as one of the top five worldwide cities for livability and quality of life,[16][17] and the Economist Intelligence Unit acknowledged it as the first city to rank among the top-ten of the world's most liveable cities[18] for five consecutive years.[19] Vancouver has hosted many international conferences and events, including the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, UN Habitat I, Expo 86, the World Police and Fire Games in 1989 and 2009; and the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Paralympics which were held in Vancouver and Whistler, a resort community 125 km (78 mi) north of the city.[20] In 2014, following thirty years in California, the annual TED conference made Vancouver its indefinite home. Several matches of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup were played in Vancouver, including the final at BC Place Stadium.[21] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vancouver http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g154943-Activities-Vancouver_British_Columbia.html http://www.hellobc.com/vancouver.aspx https://www.facebook.com/pages/Vancouver-British-Columbia/114497808567786

So the story here is that back in 2012 I went on a roadtrip up to Alaska with a friend of mine. The 6 days up were so great that we thought it would be cool to get a timelapse of the trip back. I bought my very first goPro while up there, the hero2 at the time, and setup a rig on my windsheild using the suction cup mount and some duct tape (We couldnt find the skeleton housing in stores and needed an open case to charge the camera as it recorded). The goal was to capture the essence of the complete route and make it more enjoyable than most of the bad footage you see elsewhere on youtube. It was filmed in 1080p, 60fps and we tried our best to drive during daylight and wash the windows to keep the view clear. Theres virtually no cuts while driving during the entire film, so you get the actual full trip experience. To do this we used a system of 2 memory cards and swapped them quickly at stops when they filled up, while moving the footage over to a laptop from the full card as we drove. There was actually quite a bit of planning into how we did everything from filming and framing shots, to constantly passing other vehicles to make it feel more surreal and to keep the view in front of us clear. I kinda sat on the 60 hours of 150, unorganized files for 5 years because the task of editing it all into something watchable was so daunting but I finally managed to get it done. Ive added in pictures from the trip at relevant parts, along with locations of all the pit stops and some areas along the way with an included map (This was hard to edit in as the hero2 had no GPS funcationaliy). Footage is sped up 30 times for the most part, jumping up even faster to skip over traffic and pit stops while being slowed down for all the wildlife and interesting parts. The footage contained mostly radio music and personal conversation so I stripped it all and added in some filler music the best I could (Its hard to find good music which you can use in your youtube videos without copyright infringment). Driving downtown in the afternoon, traffic gets stopped because of construction and we've been sitting here for a couple of minutes. I notice a car speeding down the parking lane behind me. My car's getting serviced and the dealer gave me this in the meantime. The camera used in this video is a MateGo model. There's only one store in Greater Vancouver that sells this model currently, you can purchase it through here: http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/pts/5517349453.html

Welcome to Vancouver. We enter the downtown area via the Cambie Street bridge. Heading up Smithe Street we pass by the Orpheum (1:36), Vancouver's most reputable concert hall and home of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. After passing by the law courts (1:59), we take a left and stay on Burrard briefly. There's a a nice church on the right (2:18) before turning left on Nelson street. At the bottom of Nelson we take a right onto Pacific Boulevard (4:24) where people pay a lot of money to live in trendy condos. The ocean can be seen very briefly (7:45) and eventually we'll hit Denman Street (8:55) which has lots of nice restaurants. Robson Street (10:16) is downtown Vancouver's most famous street as it has lots of shopping and restaurants. Every tourist has to come her. We eventually take a left at Hornby and to the right is the Vancouver Art Gallery (12:51). We travel on Georgia for a few blocks and as we take a right on Richards Street you can very briefly see the headquarters of the Vancouver Public Library (13:39) which looks like an ancient Roman building. Richards Street (13:51) used to have a night-club called Richards on Richards where all the young ladies would try to find the rich boys of Vancouver... it doesn't exist anymore. We take a right on Davie Street which is Vancouver's LGBT district (14:56). We only travel a few blocks up and then take a right on Granville Street, the clubbing district (15:36)... some of these signs look like they haven't been replaced for years. We turn right for a block and then take a left on Seymour Street which seems to be turning into the "study abroad" area. There are lots of students from all over the world (16:25)... (well, mostly Asia...) hanging out around here. At the bottom of Seymour we hit a T. Waterfront Station (18:35) is right in front of you. A left is taken and then a right where we can see Canada Place (19:30). Eventually we go up to Georgia Street (21:25) and head on to the route to Stanley Park or the Lion's Gate Bridge. The music that you are listening to was performed by Free Jazz Vancouver, a group of improvisers that like to make music from scratch. People getting stuck in the middle of the road, slipping and sliding vehicles, and a person dumping snow on the road?!?! and many many more clips to be seen in this video! I hope you enjoy this video! Yet again, people seem to loose their minds driving in the snow. If you don't feel comfortable or confident driving in the snow, PLEASE hang those keys up and keep the roads safer. Be careful out there, and safe travels! Like what you’ve watched? http://www.freejazzvancouver.com West Vancouver may be the hardest place to get to in the lower mainland during rush hour traffic. Why? Because of the intersection at 0:36. Can this be fixed? No... Luckily this video wasn't filmed during rush hour and it's basically a long cruise through Vancouver's "fairly wealthy" suburb. The music was created by Free Jazz Vancouver. We like to make weird background music. Do you have a place to play? Mark Quigley - trombone and korg volca keys C Walter Lovell - drums
